Das Racist - Who’s That Broooown
I love mixtapes. Whether it’s Gucci’s “Free Gucci” (mixtape of the year so far) or The Very Best Mixtape they’re amazing, low productions, ready to go and not as much anticipated as proper records are. Just look at Wale’s “Mixtape About Nothing” which is one of a kind masterpiece that deservedly got the mixtape of the year back in 2008.
Das Racist already have one mixtape out called “Shut Up, Dude” but they’re shacking up with Diplo who pretty much knows some magic voodoo shit when it comes to mixtapes. That one is out in two weeks, 14th September, stay sharp.
I like Das Racist mainly since they know their shit and Hip Hip and Rap generally. Even in their tracks, they name check the songs that you and everyone listened to when growing up. Coochie Dip City big ups 2 Live Crew’s Da Dip and Nutmeg sounds like a classic Wu Tang joint.
Anyway, “future of rap” or whatever, download the Shut Up, Dude! mixtape and check them out yourself. Get in the car, put Das Racist on, and just enjoy it cause that’s what I’m gonna do tomorrow.
